Biometric Vehicle Access is Breakthrough Technology Helping to Reduce Car-jacking, Anti-theft protection, and auto alarm
The automobile industry is one of the key sectors that witness rapid technological evolution. Many automobile companies have introduced innovative technologies to enhance the security of vehicles. From digital keys to mobile-operated locks, automakers are now using biometric vehicle access, which comprises different mechanisms that use biometric identification factors such as iris, fingerprint, and voice to unlock the vehicle. As more vehicles are using biometric technology to gain access to the road, this type of system will likely become more popular, as well as the technology used to protect it.
Currently, several manufacturers have introduced devices that incorporate both voice recognition and fingerprint recognition. These systems often include facial recognition, iris recognition, or hand recognition. Live biometrics is an advanced automobile technology in cars. These devices are meant to provide complete access to users and other features such as anti-theft protection, anti-carjacking, and auto-alarming. Generally, the vehicle access control system has four access tests to identify authorized controls.
Concerns with Insecurity The concern about biometric technology is primarily focused on how easy it is for criminals to defeat these systems. Currently, criminals are able to fool the systems by pretending to be someone else, or by faking their identity. Moreover, it is possible to bypass many of these systems by using fake I.D. cards or attempting to use a false I.D. If this method is successfully used, then the person will be allowed to enter the vehicle. Many automobile manufacturers across the globe have started incorporating biometric vehicle access into new vehicles. As a matter of fact, many automakers in the U.K, Italy, and the U.S. have adopted this novel technology. For instance, recently, a U.K.-based automaker introduced biometric vehicle access to its new cars to enhance security for users. Moreover, it also teamed up with a software company for remote access to a car.
