    Pharmaceutical excipients are substances that are added to an active ingredient to make it more effective, safe or less toxic for use in a specific product. This list includes inert substances, additives, inactive ingredients and preservatives. These excipients are used to enhance the properties of pharmaceutical products by providing benefits in different ways. They help increase absorption of active ingredients, improve the solubility of active ingredients, provide ease in application, enhance the stability of active ingredients, provide protection from environmental factors and provide safety features. Some examples of commonly used excipients are glycolic acid, sodium saccharin, tricalcium phosphate, carboxybenzene, linalool and Linalyl acetate.
