Foam Dressing For Full-Thickness Wounds Cost-Effective In Preventing Infection and Reducing Healing Period

A foam dressing is one method of cleaning up a large wound area that appears to be infected. In order to perform this procedure, one would need to have access to a good supply of saline solution. One would first moisten the area with a wet towel and then apply the saline solution so that it covers the entire surface of the wound. After one hour, remove the towel and wash the wound area with water.

Foam dressings for full-thickness wounds are a cost-effective way to prevent infection and reduce the amount of time that it takes to heal. Full-thickness wounds are those that have not yet reached the surface after being exposed to an acute infection or a severe injury. These types of wounds, usually caused by cuts, bruises, or bites, usually do not respond well to topical applications. Even though this is the case, doctors still recommend the use of some form of topical dressings for these types of wounds. For these reasons, many doctors choose to use full-thickness dressings or foam dressings for these types of wounds.

Foam fillers have become an increasingly popular alternative to traditional wound dressings for several reasons. First of all, they are easier to use. Second, they can provide a level of comfort that is not reached with typical dressings such as gauze. Lastly, they can also provide a more professional, non-threatening appearance to a wound. For example, a doctor's office may decide to use aquacel for a patient's ankle because it looks more natural.

The market for foam dressings is witnessing launch of new products. For instance, in March 2020, Hydrofera, LLC, a medical equipment manufacturer, launched its Hydrofera Blue READY-Border antibacterial foam wound care dressings in the U.S., effective immediately. Hydrofera Blue READY-Border dressings are approved for sale in both the U.S. and Canada.
