Myasthenia Gravis Treatment is getting better with Continuous Research and Development Activities in the U.S. and Italy

Myasthenia Gravis, also known as progressive cerebellar ataxia, is a disease affecting the central nervous system and the muscles of the face, neck, arms, and legs. It is a progressive disease that gradually affects the motor skills of an individual, resulting in wasting of muscle and eventually complete paralysis of the affected muscles. The disease usually begins during childhood and most victims are elderly. There are several treatments available for this condition and the choice of treatment depends on the severity of the condition and the type of symptoms that the patient presents with. Common treatment options include occupational therapy, medication, surgery, alternative treatments, and physical therapy.

Treatment can manage symptoms of myasthenia gravis effectively in most patients. Myasthenia Gravis often affects the ability of muscles to contract and relax. The disease causes some muscles to lose strength, usually improving with prolonged use and progressively worsening with rest. This makes it difficult to open and close the eyes or to raise and lower the head. In the early stages of the disease, myasthenia gravis is frequently treated with eye drops, muscle relaxants, and NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). If these do not work, alternative treatments such as chiropractic treatment, acupuncture, light therapy, massage, and biofeedback may be tried. Myasthenia Gravis is a genetically-related condition that is more common in Caucasians and in men than in women.

Age is not a factor in this disorder. It commonly begins in late adolescence and continues into middle age. It can affect both boys and girls, although it is more common in boys. Furthermore, the Ayurvedic treatment of myasthenia gravis is aimed at treating the basic pathology of the disease by controlling the production of autoantibodies and reducing inflammation in the muscles. Various countries including the U.S., Italy, and the U.K. are focused on novel treatment methods of myasthenia gravis. Treatment options such as Thymectomy i.e. removal of the thymus gland has shown positive results in the treatment of myasthenia gravis.
