Gastroscopy Devices Offer Direct Visualization of Body Systems Not Easily Visualized In Other Ways

Gastroscopy devices are used to diagnose diseases pertaining to stomach, esophagus, and upper part of small intestine. These devices are also used to help confirm suspected conditions, such as stomach ulcers that develop on the lining of the stomach and small intestine. Gastroscopy is a diagnostic test that allows the doctor to look inside the stomach. The gastroscope is one the most commonly used gastroscopy devices to perform this simple test.

The gastroscope is a long, thin, flexible fiberoptic tube with a light and a camera, with a wide angle lens. Doctors insert this tube directly into the stomach and examines the lining of upper digestive system on a monitor. The technical name for this test is Esophago-Gastro-Duodenoscopy. The examination is minimally invasive, and there is no incision. Moreover, Gastroscopy devices can be used to detect cancers. It is recommended to diagnose problems related to the stomach or esophagus.

The device has a camera and a light at the end of the probe to see the stomach, upper intestine, and esophagus clearly. Gastroscopy devices are also used to examine problems related to blockage, ulcers, and swallowing in esophagus. This allows doctors to examine the mucous membrane of the stomach. Moreover, Gastroscopy is considered the most preferred option for screening esophageal cancer (also known as esophagus cancer).

In Japan, the overall death rate in the general population from esophageal cancer has been reported to be 15.7 per 100,000 for men and 2.6 per 100,000 for women. Thus, esophageal cancer is considered a relatively common type of cancer in Japan. Esophagus cancer is of two types, such as adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. This can be due to various reasons such as type of gene, gene mutation, or damage involved in cell division.
