Ceramic membrane is gaining significant attention from water treatment industry as they are cost-effective and environmental friendly solution

Ceramic membrane is a special type of membrane that offers several advantages over other types of membranes. These membranes typically consist of either aluminum oxide titanium dioxide or silicon carbide, all of which belong to the class of inorganic compounds. They have high porosity and hydrophilic nature, are highly resistant to thermal, chemical, and mechanical pressure, and possess a relatively higher permeability than most other polymers. The ceramic components of the membrane absorb and trap moisture, leaving a dry film on substrates exposed to water. The film can also prevent corrosion of metal parts exposed to moisture.

Moreover, ceramic membrane are flexible for industrial use and can withstand high temperatures without scratching, denting, or bubbling. They can be formed into complex shapes and designs using simple machines or hand tools. When cured, they harden into solid surfaces that can resist oil, grease, and other contaminants, while still providing excellent slip resistance. Ceramic mixtures can include both low and high-performance performance grades. These mixtures may include epoxy resin and low-density foams, as well as high-performance resins.

Additionally, ceramic membrane can be used to create thermal insulating materials that have fire retardant properties, as well as anti-corrosive properties. This is because these types of membranes do not form lumps that lock dirt particles into the channel. This allows the channels to be easily cleaned by wiping, drywalling, or spray painting. Some types of this material have excellent slip resistance, low density, and high thermal stability, but some varieties are less safe than others when exposed to fire. Ceramic fireproofing membranes can be extremely heavy, making them unsafe for indoor applications and some manufacturers add a polymer coating to protect the floor from accidental burns.
