Chloroform has uncountable application raging from anesthetic uses to treatment of asthma

 Chloroform is a naturally occurring gas that is produced by burning organic materials (in this case, the liquid that is in glue). Though both anesthetic gases were discovered by the same scientist, chloroform quickly became more widely used because it did not react with the liquid. One of the most common applications for chloroform was the use of anesthetic gases in the treatment of asthma. Chloroform is less soluble in solvents than ether and is able to be stored using a special container known as a glove, which is simply a cylinder filled with gloving fluid. This means that the amount of chloroform present in a given bottle of the glove is relatively small.
Most people know that chlorine is a gas that reacts with water but does not understand that chloroform can also react with anesthetic gases. When the chloride present in chloroform reacts with the water, a compound called chloroform gas is produced. Many medical practitioners who prescribe chloroform as an anesthetic prefer to administer it with a low dose, as opposed to taking large doses of chloride orally, although it should be noted that even very low doses of chloroform can cause side effects such as confusion, drowsiness, and nausea.
A common use of chloroform is for inhalation; when the vapor from chloroform is inhaled, it combines with other gas molecules and can combine with organic compounds such as carbon dioxide to produce chloroform gas. When swallowed, however, chloroform can easily transit into the digestive system, where it stimulates acid secretion, making stomach acid a major factor in breaking down proteins in the digestive tract. It also causes a change in the normal chemical composition of water, which results in many different types of water purification.
